The beautiful neoclassical building has since its origins been the home of the Accademia Atestina, the institute for artistic training founded by Ercole III. The designer of the complex, housed in the premises of the ancient Inquisition Court, was Giuseppe Soli. He also was the school’s first director. One of his successors was the painter Adeodato Malatesta, who expanded the school’s art and plaster cast collections.
