Description

The ruin of the aqueduct, consisting of brick and river stone pillars and five surviving arches, is all that remains of the hydraulic structure built around 1741 by Marquis Carlo Filiberto d’Este to supply the two fountains built in the gardens of the castle. Its operation was probably never optimal, due to the low flow rate of the watercourse that fed it, and it was abandoned as early as 1764.
