The church of San Pietro is of medieval origin and in ancient times it was located on the site now occupied by the large cloister of the monastery. Demolished by the monks, it was rebuilt at the end of the 16th century in a grander style by Giulio della Torre, who created an elegant building in a classical style. The dome was added in the 17th century by Paolo Messori, while the façade was only built in the late 18th century.
