Description

The Castle of Dinazzano is located on the top of a hill overlooking the course of the river Secchia. The current appearance of the complex is the result of a succession of reconstructions, demolitions and unfinished works carried out from the 12th century to the years of Este domination.

Most of the structures that made up the fortification are in a state of ruin; however, some sections of the perimeter of the defensive enclosure remain recognisable, such as the remains of a circular tower located to the south-west and those of another quadrangular tower located to the south-east. Standing out from the castle ruins, in an excellent state of preservation, is a slender brick tower with a square plan and a steeply sloping scarped base surmounted by a toric curbstone, while its crowning consists of corbels surmounted on all sides by four dovetail battlements.
