Description

The magnificent Archbishop’s palace is the result of the desire for grandeur of Cardinal Tommaso Ruffo, bishop and legate of Ferrara, who began its reconstruction in 1717. The palace of medieval origins was, in fact, considered cramped and unworthy of hosting the cleric, who came from one of the noblest families in the Kingdom of Naples. The new building, designed by the Roman Tommaso Mattei, is characterised by its long façade decorated by a monumental portal with columns and above all by the sumptuous internal staircase, decorated with stuccoes and frescoes of the Bolognese school.
