The square, uniformly enclosed by buildings adorned with sober terracotta decorations, is the privileged access to the Este residence in Sassuolo. On the left side opens the access to the Peschiera, or Fontanazzo, which, although ruined, remains the greatest achievement of the grotesque Baroque style in Emilia Romagna.
