Description

The Castle of Monteorsello, built on a hill along the right bank of the Panaro river, was the subject of bitter disputes between the city of Modena and that of Bologna, being definitively incorporated into the Este domains at the end of the 14th century.

The few surviving remains of the fortified complex, built in sandstone, consist of a passage vault and a quadrangular tower, probably dating back to the 14th century.
