Description

This rustic building, not lacking in grandeur, constitutes one of the last traces of the ancient Via Vandelli, laid out at the behest of Francesco III as a road to cross the Apennines between Modena and Massa. Replaced by the more convenient Via Giardini, Via Vandelli is now recognisable in the form of a path. The Fabbrica di Pievepelago was a large tavern in which horses and people could take shelter, and was particularly appreciated and praised by the duke himself.
