The villa in Rivaltella, one of the satellite residences of the Este complex of Rivalta, was commissioned by Princess Carlotta Aglae d’Orléans, wife of the Crown Prince Francesco d’Este. An important villa belonging to the Scaruffi family, built at the end of the 16th century, already existed on the site. The expansion and decoration work carried out by Carlotta Aglae began in 1724. At the end of the 18th century, the villa was purchased by the Corbelli family, who enlarged and renovated it in a neo-Renaissance style, to the extent that nothing now survives of the Baroque splendour of this residence.
