The support of Bomporto is a majestic hydraulic work that probably already existed in the 15th century, but was rebuilt in 1773 at the behest of Francesco III. It is an infrastructure that was intended to allow boats navigating on the Naviglio di Modena Canal to overcome the difference in height existing between two sections of the canal.
